I thought that the majority of these clips and stories were brilliant. The sound effects and the shots the reporter got were amazing. Some of the edits were cut quickly, and hard to watch. I thought most of them deserved the title of Best of Television Journalism. However they didnt seem like news stories I would see on TV. They seemed like they were filmed and created just for this. Some seemed a little tacky and unrealistic, they almost seemed like stories that were too perfect. If most reporters today had time on their hands, I'm sure they could wander out and find cute stories like these that make you feel happy and good inside, but reality is that the news isnt really like that. I would love to come home everyday and watch stories on pink flamingos and first time reunions between siblings and a 75 year old who still lives her life to the fullest by running marathons. These stories seem like they would be more likely to be run on Oprah than the 6:00 news. In real life the news is done right and it is done to get the message to the viewers by 6:00. There is no time for cute, overly creative, or well shot stories (unless you are just really that good). These clips were amazing. They were shot, edited, and reported well. But they did not appear to be pulled off tapes from previous newscasts. Which kinda takes the "amazing-ness" out of them.
